This was, and still is, a ground-breaking book. If this describes a category in which you could put yourself, reading it may bring you sweet relief. Reading the list of common characteristics of adult children of alcoholics can bring about the same sort of relief experienced by Post-Traumatic Stress sufferers: “I’m not crazy.” There is often still lots work to be done, but that initial surge of understanding can be just the thing one needs to do that work.
